Roof Cost Calculator for Cleveland, OH

Get a rough price range for a new roof on your house in Cleveland, OH. Answer four questions about size, stories, steepness and material, and the calculator turns 2026 Ohio cost averages into a planning figure. It works for pitched roofs on homes anywhere in Cuyahoga County and takes about a minute.

Before You Start

The calculator starts from your living space and divides it by the number of stories to estimate the footprint of the house. It then multiplies that footprint by a slope factor (1.12 for a walkable pitch, 1.30 for a steep one) and adds 10 percent for the eaves that hang past the walls. The result is an estimate of roof surface, which is what roofers measure.

That surface is multiplied by per-square-foot rates from RoofObservations' 2026 Ohio guide. These averages already include tearing off the old roof. Shingles run from the Ohio 3-tab shingles row to the Ohio premium shingles row. Metal starts at the Ohio exposed-fastener metal row and reaches about $17.35 for aluminum standing seam, above the basic-steel standing-seam row.

This tool covers pitched roofs with shingles or metal only. Slate, tile and flat roofs need a roofer's own quote, so the calculator leaves them out.

What to Do With the Result

Treat the range as a budget check before anyone climbs a ladder. If it fits your plans, the next move is a written estimate from a roofer who measures the actual slopes.

  • Request an estimate. The form passes your details to one independent local roofer, and that roofer comes out to measure and puts the price in writing.
  • Ask about the permit. Cleveland requires a city permit for every re-roof. Find out who will pull it before you sign anything.
  • Check the paperwork. Ask for the roofer's city contractor registration and proof of insurance, then compare written warranties and scopes line by line.

The cost guide explains what pushes a bid up or down, and the repair-or-replace quiz helps if you are not sure the whole roof needs replacing yet.
